1/8/11 – Hello all! Sorry I didn’t write yesterday but I got a little busy.
Friday was a packed day. I hung out with some friends and talked to lots of people that I haven’t caught up with in a while. I have lots of others that I haven’t even begun to call back. If you’re one of those people, I’m sorry. I promise I will eventually call. Through all the hanging out and talking I managed to watch my final Harry Potter movie. It took me the whole day to finish the movie. I’m sorry to say I did not have any time to watch Bravo, so no snarky comments about daytime TV.
I did receive a phone call from my surgeon’s office reminding me that I have an appointment on Monday. Apparently if the weather is bad I will need to call the office to make sure they are open. I’m not sure I would want to drive in bad weather, but I do need to make it to that appointment. I know there are many of you who were concerned about whether I was allowed to drive or not. You will be happy to know that I passed Todd’s driving test. I drove in the dark, in the rain Friday night. I made it to my destination safely without any incidents. Well, that’s not completely true. There was an incident in the Starbucks parking lot. Todd went inside to get coffees and I was enjoying the Blackeyed Peas a little too much. Two teenage boys totally caught me dancing in my car – remember I don’t dance. I’m going to pretend that they were thinking “Wow, she’s older than me but she has rhythm and seems really cool.” I’m delusional, I know, but it’s such a GOOD song. Embarrassing!
Ok, I have probably gained 75 pounds because Melissa Moore brought me the most delicious dessert ever! I will never be able to eat another dessert without thinking of this stuff. I believe the proper name for it is “better than sex” and I’m not gonna lie, its fan-flippin’-tastic! Brownie, not too much chocolate pudding, coolwhip, Heath bar, carmel. Wow. Wow. I have had this stuff for dessert and I even worked it into being a breakfast item – I don’t know how I rationalized that, but I’m just glad I did.
Today we finally took our Christmas tree down. I had become emotionally attached to the tree. We got it right before I had my CT scan so in my mind it was kind of like letting go to the last “normal” thing I had. That tree saw me through a lot. It was one of the prettiest trees we have had.
I went on my first mini road trip today. We met my mom and dad in Palmetto (halfway for all of us) for mom’s birthday. We ate at Frank’s. It is a restaurant that is attached to a Marathon gas station. I know how that sounds, but it was good. I got stuff shells and marinara. This was one of the largest meals I have ever seen. I got a soup, salad, breadsticks, and my entrée. Mom loves the desserts so we had to have dessert. All in all it was a really good time.
I totally forgot one very important part. I wore jeans for the first time today! Jeans! I’ve been living in sweat pants and dresses for 4 weeks now. I don’t think I ever explained my scar. It runs vertically down my stomach. It is 4 inches long – 2 inches above my belly button, 2 inches below. You may be wondering how do I know such an exact measurement? That’s right! I totally pulled out a ruler and measured my incision! I don’t say any of that to gross y’all out, but I just wanted to explain why jeans, pants in general, have been challenging.
Todd felt that we needed to prepare for the “snowstorm” that is coming to Sugar Hill. We went to the store and had to buy milk. We have bread and milk. Come what may, we are prepared. Do you ever wonder what people up North think of our snow preparation? I do. I would like snow, but I am not hoping for it. I have too much to do next week.
I have noticed that the longer I stay at home the more Southern my accent gets. When I was on the phone the other day I heard myself say 10 with at least 2 syllables. I know those of you who work with me probably think I am very Southern already and wonder if my accent can get thicker. The answer is yes. Yes, it can. I personally like to work the term “might could” into any conversation that I can. It’s classic. I also know how to use the plural and possessive form of the conjunction “y’all” – there’s the regular “y’all” which, yes it is plural already but then there is “all y’all” as in “Would all y’all like some Coke?” and finally there is “all y’all’s” as in “You need to pick up all y’all’s stuff before I throw it out the window!” I hope this has been educational and informative. The moment I start using the long “I” in words please stage an intervention. Those of you who have never heard what I am talking about “bless your heart”.
I have eaten more food than I can handle over the last two days. I have no idea would I would want to eat if it was even possible for me to crave something. I’ve had entirely too much sweet so I would probably lean toward something salty. Since I got busted dancing to it, my song of the day is the Blackeyed Peas “Time of my life” – dirty bit!
For some reason I am watching Jets and the Colts game. I don’t know why, but someone needs to do something because this game is pretty boring. Night!
