Slip and slide

1/12/11 – Hey, hey!  It’s been another day at home.  I hope all of you who’ve been stranded from the snow and ice appreciate how hard it’s been for me to just sit at home for weeks now.  Not as easy as it sounds, right?
I started out the morning laughing.  Todd had just let Buster outside to do his business when I started making the coffee.  Todd looks out the window and says “look at this”.  When I look out the window Buster is walking on top of the snow, not sinking in.  He then starts to slide around like a deer on a frozen lake!  I didn’t realize until that moment that the snow had such a large ice layer that a 50lb dog couldn’t sink through.  The sliding part was pretty funny.
Todd headed out to work around 10:00.  I was prepared to have a relaxing and productive day at home all alone.  Around 10:20 I got a call from Todd saying he couldn’t make it out of the subdivision.  When he got to the big hill there were already 4 cars in front of him and one that had ran into a curb.  He pulled off the road and, along with other people who were already hanging around, started watching people try to escape the neighborhood.  Apparently only 4 cars out of 12 succeeded.  Since Todd’s truck is a rear wheel drive he knew it wouldn’t be able to handle the hill.  He came back and worked at the house again.
I am sick and tired of just sitting around watching TV so I decided to make a pillow.  I have had some fuzzy white fabric that I haven’t done anything with.  I pulled out my sewing machine and made one large pillow that looks really nice with the bedding in our bedroom – “it’s so FLUFFY!”.  I then vacuumed our sofa and love seat and rug.  I continued with my HGTV-ness and tried to redo a lampshade.  I am sorry to say that my lampshade turned out looking horrible.  At least my other projects worked out well.
I did watch The People’s Court this morning.  I find that show very interesting.  Did you know that Harvey Levin from TMZ does some of the outside interviews?  I didn’t, and you know how I love TMZ.  People wear some questionable things to court.  I honestly wonder what they think when they are getting ready in the morning.  Judge Marilyn Milian has this awesome eye roll combined with an angry huff – I have got to perfect that for myself.  It was quite scary.  I’m sure it would come in handy when someone gets on my nerves in the future. The quote of the show was when an annoying lady was talking at the same time as Judge Milian.  Imagine if you could say this in an angry voice when someone interrupts you – “Can you hear me talking when you talk over me?!”  I know it probably loses a lot of force in type, but it was pretty awesome when she said it.
Tonight we had brinner (breakfast for dinner) with the Gorka’s.  We had homemade biscuits (I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t remember how to make biscuits since I haven’t had them in so long), sausage gravy, bacon, and eggs.  It was delicious!  Oh, so yummy.
I received a call from the surgeon’s office letting me know that my outpatient surgery for the port was still on even though he wasn’t able to do an in-office consultation.  Apparently I will have a consultation at the hospital.  The hospital also called to make sure that my surgery was still on.  Yep!  Still on.  Chemo is also still scheduled for 9:00 Friday.
Since I had such a yummy dinner I would like a cookies and cream milkshake from Chick-fil-A.  I need to get my cold fix in before I am confined to room temperature drinks and foods.  My song of the day is “Hanging Around” by Counting Crows – fitting right?
As I sign out for the night I thought I would leave you with a funny picture of Buster.  When Brad and Yen were over Yen tied a ribbon around Buster’s neck.  It was funny watching him wiggle around trying to get it off.  It did make a pretty cute picture though.  Enjoy and good night.
Buster and his nemesis "The Ribbon"!
