1/2/11 – Hey, hey! Today has been a busy day. It’s been awesome!
My plan for today was to go to worship service and walk a mile. So, of course, when you are trying to do something what happens? You sleep late or run late. 2 guesses what happened to me. I woke up at 10:15 and thought “Oh no! I’m not going to make it to church!” (Worship starts at 10:45 and I do not move as quickly as I did pre-surgery.) I jump (not really, I couldn’t jump if I tried) out of bed. I hear the TV on in the living room and start to think “Todd went to church and left the TV on. I don’t remember him saying good-bye to me…” That is because I discovered Todd in the living room watching sports. What is goin’ on here? I asked him why he didn’t wake me and he said that I looked “so peaceful” – something about that just makes me laugh, not sure why. Apparently I did not sleep that well last night and he thought I could probably use the extra rest. I guess I can’t fault him for being thoughtful. I still wanted to go to church so we both got ready. I used to have my morning routine down to a cool 31 minutes – I believe in sleeping late and hitting the snooze button at least 3 times. Well, let’s just say I no longer get ready that fast. Luckily I had laid my clothes out the night before because deciding what to wear is 75% of the battle. We made it to church a few seconds before the service started.
It was so nice to go to worship. I don’t think you truly know how much you miss it until you go. I have a lot to be thankful for and it was just so nice to sing “I’m casting my cares aside, I’m leaving my past behind, I’m setting my heart and mind on you, Jesus…” There is just something about singing and really believing all the words are true that give so much hope. I need a little hope and renewal. I’m feeling good.
After church Todd and I went shopping! Yeah! I haven’t been shopping since the weekend before my surgery. We went to DSW and I had no intention of buying shoes. I promise. I promise I had no intention of buying shoes. It just happened. The sales lady twisted my arm. I found a cute pair of black wedges. I’ve missed heels – I’m afraid to wear heels because I think I might fall over. And, if I fell there is a 30% chance that I might not be able to get back up. Well, these wedges are a moderate height and have a strap for ankle support – win! So, of course I HAD to buy them. Well, we get up the counter and I have $10 left over. How is that possible? I have to spend that or it might disappear into a black hole that only exists at DSW. Todd says “Hey? Haven’t you been wanting some Chuck Taylors?” Yeah, of course. Todd points out some on a display at the front of the store. I go over to the table and they have a pair of grey ones with hot pink lining, a hot pink sparkly tongue that folds down, and sparkly laces. Score! I scoop up my size and we are in business. “My name is Shea and I have a shoe addiction.” I know the first step is to admit that you have a problem, but seriously people this is a problem that I have zero desire to correct. I’m totally ok being dependent on shoes. If anyone tries to stage an intervention if would be good for you to remember that I know how to perform a perfect shrimp kick and I know kempo (well, as much kempo as you can learn from 90X).
Buying shoes can really wear a girl out. Todd surprised me and drove to Five Guys! I’ve needed a cheese burger since I can’t even remember. I got a little cheeseburger and Todd and I split some fries. It was heavenly. I was only able to eat half my burger, so I think I need another to make me feel complete. That’s only right, right? How about a milkshake too? Mmmm….
After Five Guys Todd and I ran to Ulta to get some hair stuff (No, Carie I did not buy shampoo, I’ll leave that faux pas to Tara). I may be stuck at home, but I still have to look cute. We then went to Nordstrom Rack where I found one dress I could use to go to doctors appointments and when I go back to work. I was having a great day, but I was worn slap out! My second goal for today was to walk a mile. I am going to consider my walking at church and shopping as a mile. Is that ok? I’ll make sure to really walk tomorrow.
Now I am lying on the couch trying to recuperate from my busy day. I would love another cheese burger – something you should know about me, I can eat the same thing over, and over, and over… Except chicken broth, I’m done. My song of the day is “I’m walking on sunshine” because this has been a great day! I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday. Take it easy.
