Check out my fast ball! |
1/11/11 – Sorry it’s taken me so long to write again, but I’ve been enjoying have some extra time with Todd.
The snow came in late Sunday night. I had not even realized it had started. This was mine and Todd’s actual conversation (I was sitting at the dining room table).
Todd: There’s snow on the ground.
Me: Nuh uh. [Todd opens the front door]
Me: There’s snow on the ground!
Todd: sigh….
Normally I notice when the snow starts. Being in Georgia and originally from the South, snow is a treat. I revert to being a kid whenever snow starts. I was so surprised that there was already an inch and I had no clue. I went to bed Sunday night knowing that my week was not going to go as planned. In the morning I woke up to a beautiful snow cover. I pulled out my trusty ruler and measured 5 ½ inches of snow. That’s a little bit more than I’m used to, so it was nice. Todd and I enjoyed our Monday. He worked from home and I worked in the house a little. Watching so much HGTV has inspired me to move a few things around and get things looking better. We went on a walk with Buster later in the day. It was fun to walk around and enjoy the cold. What did I say? – enjoy the cold? Yup. I realized during our walk that I am going to become cold sensitive once I start my chemo so I won’t be able to play in the snow if it snows again – sad. I made up for any future sadness by really enjoying myself this time.
Last night we went to Brad and Yen’s and had some delicious homemade cream of broccoli soup. Todd and Brad watched the Auburn/Oregon game – does anyone else pronounce Oregon the way the officials did? I’ve never heard it that way – kind of like Or-eh-gone. Just wondering. I hung out for the first quarter but I abandoned ship after that. I did keep up with the score, but actually watching the game makes me nervous. I blame Todd. He paces and talks to the TV. I was afraid that I might accidentally get in the line of fire, so I like to stay out of the way. I did have on my Auburn colors. Has anyone noticed that one of Auburn’s colors is navy? Like colon cancer, hunh? hunh?
Todd’s office was closed again today. All of my doctors’ appointments have been rescheduled to later in the week or next week – don’t you love it when things don’t go as you’ve planned? I have always been anti-change. I just don’t like it when things change. I get comfortable and happy with how things are. I don’t mean that I like for things to be stagnant, but there are too many things that change in general I just want simple things to remain the same to give life some comfort and normalcy. It seems like all I have done since mid December is change. Bring it on! I find that I deal better with change when I just change everything all at once.
Today was great. Todd worked from home and I worked in the house again. We got out in the car for a few minutes and road to Kyle and Jen’s house to drop off a movie. I borrowed Jen’s Reba DVD collection. Guess what people? I will be writing about my personal interpretation of Reba tomorrow – next week. It’s a change from Bravo I guess. I’ve always liked Reba so I’m looking forward to watching the whole series.
In case anyone is wondering what my week looks like now, here’s the breakdown. My consultation with my surgeon was cancelled Monday and they are supposed to reschedule before I have the port put in. They have not said anything to me about the port surgery being rescheduled, so as far as I know I will still have the port put in on Thursday and start chemo this Friday. I’m not sure when the consultation will be but I assume I will talk to him some time before Thursday morning. My PET scan has moved to next Tuesday. I had wanted to try to get back to work a little this week, but since I have to get a note from my surgeon that may have to wait until next week. I would like to start adding in a little work from home or half days so I can ease myself back into work. Seeing how I still get tired easily I would like to take my time getting back to a full day.
Tonight I am enjoying a nice night in. I made some chicken pasta, so I’m more in a mood for sweet stuff tonight. I would like some tiramisu and a nice coffee. My song of the day is DJ Khaled’s “All I do is win, win, no matter what…” in honor of Auburn’s awesome win! Anyone who’s been to a game this year knows what I’m talking about. Night y’all!
