Good news

1/19/11 – Hey!  It’s been a good day.  I was very tired last night.  I fell asleep before 10:00 and slept until 10:20 this morning.  I am feeling about as energized as I can get right now.  We brought Abby over to our house to play with Buster.  She and Buster both felt the need to sleep in the bed last night.  I woke up to Abby between me and Todd on my pillow.  It may sound weird, but when she looked at me with those big brown eyes all I could do is say “hey Abby” and pet her – so cute.
I didn’t do too much today.  I was able to get a full 4 hours in at work.  It is amazing how much you can do when you work from home.  I think I am more focused because I want to get done and enjoy the rest of my day.  I worked in 2 hour increments.  I was happy to not feel too tired.  I’ve always wanted to work more from home but this definitely was NOT the way I planned to accomplish that.  Funny how things work out.
After working I did rest.  I needed a little breather.  I know I don’t do anything straining on my body, like lift things or walk a lot, but staring at a computer isn’t all that easy either.  It takes a little brain power.  I am a little worried about how I will do when I start having to do things that require me to actually think.  Right now I am doing pretty easy stuff that anyone should be able to do - busy work that someone has to do so no better person than me, right?
I got some good news today.  My oncologist called and said he had the results of my PET scan.  The PET scan came back clean which means I have no other tumors in my body – Yay!  The new oncologist should have received the results too so I guess we will go over them at my consultation tomorrow.  I expect to hear pretty much the same thing.  Oh, I forgot to mention…. 2 small kidney stones showed up on my PET scan – great, kidney stones.  Just what I needed.  Apparently they are really small and aren’t in a place that would cause me any pain right now.  He did recommend following up with a urologist once my chemo is complete.
I’ve really enjoyed looking at the stats for my blog.  I’m able to see how many times a post has been viewed, how people look at them (iphone, facebook, pc), and where people are from that read the blog.  I have a healthy number of readers in the U.S. but there are also some faithful followers in Canada.  I have also seen the U.K., Sweden, South Korea, Croatia, and guess what? Slovenia!  I thought it was funny after I wrote about Todd watching House Hunters International where a couple was looking for a vacation home in Slovenia that someone from there read my blog.  Awesome!  Slovenia is supposed to be a beautiful country.
Someone mentioned that my blog should have sponsors.  I totally agree with that.  Do you know how many people have mentioned that my blog has inspired them to go to Five Guys or get a Smoothie?  A business savvy person should be able to turn this into something marketable (not sure if I would qualify as “business savvy”, even to myself).   Let’s say I am able to pull off this sponsor thing, do you think maybe my ambitions have been too low?  How about Tiffany’s or Chanel?  Don’t get me wrong, I am still down for a good burger and smoothie, I just think there will come a time when my sponsored choice will need to NOT add extra calories to my daily diet.
On that note, I haven’t yet eaten dinner.  Now that I think about it, I am totally feeling a burger or a good chicken sandwich.  I got an original chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A the other day with extra pickles and it was heavenly.  I think I would like another one of those along with a cookies and cream milkshake - yum.  Why is everything that tastes so good so bad for you?  Life is unfair.  My song of the day is Matt Maher “Hold us Together”.  I think this has been my song before but I love this song and this is my blog, so deal with it.  My favorite part is where he says “cause even in the dark you can still see the light, it’s gonna be alright, gonna be alright!”  I found a link for the song.  Enjoy!
I head to the new oncologist tomorrow.  I’m hoping for a positive experience.  I’ll update and let all of you know how it goes tomorrow.  Night y’all!

I'm radioactive

1/18/11 – Hello all.
I know all of you have heard me talk about my neighbor/fellow cancer fighter/close friend who is battling cancer.  Some of you may wonder why I keep talking about him since the blog is supposed to be about my day to day.  Well, the answer is simply that.  All of you read because you want to know what is going on in my life.  In my life I have a friend that is in a serious all out, no holds barred fight with cancer.  He is a daily part of my life.  There isn’t a moment where I don’t think about how he’s doing.  I wake up in the morning and feel good – I wonder how he feels.  I take a deep breath all on my own – I wonder how he feels.  I get tired after a long day – I wonder how he feels.  I don’t feel the effects of cancer though I know I have it – I wonder how he feels.
My day started out with a PET scan.  I had to show up to the hospital at 9:00.  I got checked in and hooked up to an IV.  (I thought the whole point in getting this port was to avoid IV’s in the future?)  Luckily I had a very nice nurse, who I’ve had before, who promised not to bruise me like the last lady.  I am proud to report that I did not pass out! Victory!  I then got to drink some delicious contrast fluid – not.  It was not the chalky kind like with the CT scan so I tolerated it.  I had to drink one cup slowly over an hour.  After an hour they called me back to start the PET scan.  As I was walking to the mobile unit for the PET scan a code is called throughout the hospital.  I hear the room number and know it is for my friend.  Once I get to the mobile unit they inject me with some radioactive stuff that will show up on the scan.  I’m told to lie down and try to relax.  How am I supposed to relax?! I just heard a code called for my friend!  I lie down and start to pray.  I have prayed so much over the past several days I’m basically just talking to God – more like talking “at” God.  (I’m not sure if that is good or not.)  “God I know you’re there with him.  You said that you would take of us because we are more valuable than the sparrows and You take care of them.  God. God. God.”  I’ve come to a point where there just aren’t words.  My nerves are quieted and I am able to relax.  After 30 minutes I get a bathroom break and have to start drinking another cup of contrast.  The lady asked me I was able to relax and I told her that I prayed because that was really all I could do at the time.  I feel ok.  I finish the contrast and we start the scan.  The PET scan machine is like a huge donut.  I went all the way through it one time quickly (2 minutes) and then a second time slowly (18 minutes).  The way I understand it the PET scan along with the contrast and radioactive stuff shows a clear image of your internal organs as well as any tumors that might be present because the tumors would absorb the sugar mixture just like my organs will.  I won’t get my results until I see the new oncologist Thursday.  After the PET scan was over I met my mom and we booked it up to the ICU to check on my friend.  He is still in serious condition.
Mom and I couldn’t stay long.  We picked up some Chick-fil-A to lift our spirits and headed home.  We ate all the fries in the car.  There is just something about hot, salty fries that hits the spot when you’re feeling tired and a little down.  We didn’t get to hang out for too long because I had to leave the house pretty quickly to head to my next appointment.  Mom headed home and I headed to my first counseling visit.
When I was first diagnosed with cancer I was told that it was important to stay on top of my mental health just as much, if not more, than my physical health.  I originally thought I could do it on my own, but the more I thought about it the smarter it seemed to talk to someone.  Through my insurance I was able to find a Christian counselor who has dealt with people who have medical issues before.  I had no clue what to expect but I was kind of excited to talk to someone.  I thought it would be kind of like “girl talk”.  It really was.  We just talked and it felt good to be able to talk to an uninvolved 3rd party.  It also meant a lot to me that she wanted to end our time with prayer.
After the appointment I called Todd and tried to see what our plan was for the night.   I talked to him and decided to head to the hospital to check in on our friend.  As I drove the seat belt start to irritate my port area.  I started to blink a lot.  I was getting sleepy.  I didn’t want to drive to the hospital and then have to drive home.  I didn’t know if I could make it.  I called Todd back and told him how I was feeling.  Against my wishes he convinced me that I needed to go home – sometimes my stubbornness gets in my own way – who’d a thunk it?  I decided to head home.  Since I’ve been home I haven’t done much of anything but try to rest and start writing my blog so I can rest once Todd gets home.
I am tired.  All I really want right now is a glass of water and a pillow to rest my head on.  I wonder if the radioactive stuff is getting to me?  Maybe it will cause me to develop another super power other than really cold feet.  Did y’all know that I already have a super power?  I do.  My super power is really cold feet.  It may sound like a lame super power, but it has more power than you realize.  When I put my really cold feet on Todd he will do pretty much anything to get me to move them.  My song of the day is Need to Breathe “The Outsiders.”  It really fits.  The link should start the song – enjoy.
Night y’all!

"A Hard Day's Night"

1/17/11 – What a weekend.  I can honestly say I have zero desire to re-do this weekend, but all-in-all everything worked out for the good.  I know all of you have heard me talk about my neighbor/fellow cancer fighter/close friend the last several days.  Yesterday was a very serious day for him.  Last night at the hospital felt like church.  It was awesome to see so many people praying with expectation.  I can honestly say God was there with us in the hospital.  Everything went well and he is doing better today.  Let’s pray that his health continues to improve.
I’ve noticed that at night I start to treat my arm like a broken wing.  I start to hold my arm and not move it too much.  I think that’s because I get stiff – nothing 2 Percocet can’t fix.  I’ve decided that my port needs a name.  I’m going to be living with the port for a while, so why not?  What do you think of Pixie the Port?  My port is blue so think of it kind of like a blue pixie stix (props to Mike Flerl for that observation).
I started back to work today. Yay!  I didn’t think I would ever say that and truly be excited, but I am.  I have really missed work so it was nice to talk to Shannon and know that there were a few things that I could do to help out the team.  I have a list of things that I’m going to try to work through during the week.  My goal for each day is 4 hours.  Today I only made it 3 hours.  As I worked my left shoulder got stiffer and stiffer.  I also noticed that I was progressively getting more and more tired.  I actually only netted 3 hours.  I decided it was best not to overdo it on the first day back.
Tomorrow I am going to get my PET scan.  I have to show up at 9:00 and the PET scan is 11:00.  I’m not exactly sure why I have to wait 2 hours until the actual test but I do know that I have to drink icky contrast fluid again – yuck!  Mom came into town to go with me to the test.  I won’t get any results back today but I should have some for my consultation Thursday.  I’m not really nervous, but it does run through my head that the last time I had a scan was when I was told that I had a malignant mass in my colon.
Some people send cards, flowers, or get fun little treats when people get sick.  My mother-in-law buys puppies.  She bought me a yorkie yesterday!  Yes, you read that right.  She bought me a dog!  He’s a 2.5lb 5 month old yorkie.  I’m excited!  Buster and Stella aren’t going to know what to think.  I’m thinking about naming him Percy for perseverance.  I want to name him something so I will remember what was happening and where I was in life when I got him.  Todd likes to tell people that his name is going to be Percy Harvin or Percy Sledge depending on who he’s talking to.  I won’t get him until this weekend.  I’ll make sure to post pictures of him soon.
Should I be concerned that Todd is enjoying watching International House Hunters?  Or could that work for my advantage?  We may be moving to Slovenia.
I am absolutely stuffed!  I’ve had chicken alfredo and brownies and ice cream for dinner tonight.  I do still need to have a coke Icee.  I still haven’t gotten one.  Maybe I’ll pick one up while I’m running around tomorrow.  My song of the day is The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night”.  I think that’s appropriate for the weekend I’ve had.  I probably be going to be early.  Night!

Rest for the weary

1/15/11 – I must have been really tired last night because Todd said I was nodding off during dinner – he compared me to a bobble head.  I was absolutely worn out when we got home last night.  I do remember eating, I do remember getting my fluffy unicorn and courage the lion (those made me smile after a hard day), I do remember taking some pain meds, but after that… no.  I fell fast asleep once the Percocet kicked in.
I slept late this morning.  It was nice to get some rest.  Todd and I woke up early, checked our texts, and went back to sleep.  Kyle and Jen came over this morning and Kyle joked that they were already on to lunch when we were offering them coffee and cheerios!
I spent a little time with Kyle, Jen, and Jacob when Kyle came over to help Todd with the “man room”.  It has been determined that our house was not built to accommodate a drop down.  Bekah and Khloe came over to pick up Bekah’s glasses she left at the house earlier.  It was nice to hang out with everyone and really nice to see Bekah since I haven’t seen anyone from work in a while.
I took my first shower since getting the port (yes, if you do the math I wasn’t allowed to shower yesterday – smelly).  The nurse gave me some sticky things that I have to place over the port area so it doesn’t get wet.  I will only have to do this while it is healing.  The port is basically invisible.  I have some steri-strips on the incision area and there is a little bump, but it is basically all under my skin.  I’ll post a picture some time since it’s not gross.  As of right now I am not having problems with this “thing” being left in me.  I’m interested in how it will feel when I am hooked up to chemo or an IV.  The nurse yesterday pushed a little saline through it and I don’t remember feeling much of anything – kinda cool, hunh?
We went to the hospital today to support my neighbor/fellow cancer fighter/good friend.  We wound up staying longer than planned but it was a good day.  I have tried to take as little Percocet as possible.  I do well during the day, but around 6:00 the port area starts to get stiff and my arm motion begins to become challenging.   I know that I need to get home because night time always seems to make things a little harder.  Todd and I stopped by Long John Silver’s on our way home – funny right?  The last meal I had before my surgery was Todd’s left over Long John Silver’s.  Well, I finally got my own personal meal – no sharing this time.  It was good.  There’s something about fake fish that hits the spot (I’m being sarcastic, but it was good).  I am now trying to relax and rest.  I will probably go to sleep early again tonight.  I am happy to report that I didn’t fall asleep while eating tonight.
I’m really not hungry anymore.  I think if I were to go get something I would get a coke Icee.  I need to go get me one of those because I keep talking about them.  My song of the day is LeeAnn Rime’s “Blue” – “Blue, Oh so lonesome for you”.
Todd and I are watching the Falcons/Packers game.   Go Falcons!

"All I want to do-o-o-o-o"

Smiling helps brighten any day
1/14/11 – Hello all.  I’m writing because I know that many of you have been praying for me and know that today was going to be a big day.  Today did not go as planned.
Yesterday when I got home from having the port installed I had a voicemail from the oncologist’s office asking me to “call them before I come into my appointment”.  I tried to call yesterday but the office was already closed for the day.  I planned to call the next morning.
Last night Todd and I watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.  It was funny.  I did not sleep well because I was nervous about the chemo and my port was a little sore.  In the wee hours of the morning I noticed my friend Sara was awake too so she and I texted back and forth a little.  I was finally able to get some rest 30 minutes before my alarm went off – isn’t that the way it always happens? Todd and I got up and got ready.  I wanted to dress cute since I knew today was going to be a challenge – I had NO clue.  Before we left the house I called the doctor’s office and learned that their office did not open until 8:30 (my appointment was at 9:00).  I decided I would just have to call them on the way.  Todd and I hit the road ready to tackle whatever the day might hold.  I had packed my bag with lots to read and do and sweaters and scarves to keep me warm after the treatment.  I was prepared!
At 8:30 I called the oncologist’s office. 8:30, 8:32, 8:33, 8:36, 8:47.  At 8:47 I finally got someone to answer the phone (by this time Todd and I were about 10 minutes away from the hospital).  When I spoke to the lady in the office I explained that I had an appointment today but I had received a call yesterday asking me to call them before coming in.  She told me that they were calling yesterday because my appointment needed to be rescheduled – What?! Why didn’t the lady who left the message say the word “reschedule”?! Isn’t that what a normal person would do? – I explained to the lady on the phone that I am almost to the hospital and it is not acceptable for them to leave such a vague message and expect me to know what that means.  She basically told me that I should have called them yesterday because then I wouldn’t be in the situation that I’m in now.  Oh, heck no!  I explain to her that I had my port put in yesterday and it was left accessed (needle sticking out) because that is what they wanted me to do since I was starting my chemo today.  Since I was having, oh I don’t know, s-u-r-g-e-r-y yesterday there was no way for me to call before their office closed.  I don’t remember all that was said, but I do know that she made me feel like it was my fault that I didn’t know my appointment was cancelled.  As soon as I get off the phone I burst out crying.  I haven’t cried a lot during the whole process.  I haven’t felt the need to cry.  I have felt positive about my situation and I have felt well cared for on all sides.  I didn’t realize how sensitive I am about all of this until someone who obviously knew I have cancer was mean to me.  What kind of person is mean to a person who has cancer?
We got to the hospital but I needed some time to cool off before I went into the oncologist’s office.  My neighbor/fellow cancer fighter/close friend is in the hospital so Todd and I went to see him and his family.  We spent some time with Kristina and were able to help them out a little.  I had already contacted another oncologist’s office to schedule a consultation.  In my mind the voicemail and phone conversation were strike 2 and 3 – strike 1 was when I had to wait over an hour for my original consultation.  After I had cooled off I went to the oncologist’s to get a print out of my medical records and have my port de-accessed (needle put back into the port).  The office manager spoke with the oncologist and said that he wanted to speak with me.  I met with the oncologist and voiced my concerns and what had happened.  He apologized and said that this was not how his practice generally ran.  I have never had a bad experience with him or his nurses.  From the very beginning they made me feel like they cared about me and were ready to build a relationship rather than just a service acquaintance.  My problem has been with the front office and their customer service.  While I was speaking with the oncologist the “problem” that caused the need to reschedule was quickly resolved and he offered to start my chemo then.  I was already past that point.  That was not what I needed to do today.  I had more important things that needed my attention.  I declined treatment and mentioned that I would be speaking to another oncologist.  He said that he understood.  His nurse de-accessed my port and told me how to take care of it the next few days.  I am not sure what my final decision will be but I know that I made the right decision today.  Yes, the doctor and nurses seem to be good people, but I also have to deal with the office staff for several months and I have not had the same positive relationship with them.  I don’t need any additional stress.  I have enough on my own.
I made a consultation appointment with another oncologist for next Thursday.  I am going to go to the consultation and then make my decision with a clear mind.  Today I am too emotional to not make a snap decision.  I am doing good, just very tired.  I’m not stressed about what happened today.  I have realized that there are more important things to waste my time on than being upset about my chemo schedule.  Much more important.
I am a little sore from the port still – probably more today than yesterday.  I am going to bed early and taking my Percocet until I start to feel a little better.  One bright moment of the day was when I got home.  I was hurting from the car ride, tired from lack of sleep, and hungry.  When I walked up the front walk I noticed a box on the front stoop and a bag on the pedestal.  My wonderful in-laws (sister, mother, father, & Jason) got me a unicorn pillow pet! “It’s a pillow, it’s a pet.  It’s a pillow pet!” and “It’s so FLUFFY!”  The bag contained my very own Courage the Lion from one of my favorite cancer fighters!  He has a blue colon cancer ribbon and a tag that says “Shea’s Courage”.  Both of these animals made my bad day a little brighter.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be sleeping with both of them tonight.
I am in a pizza mood.  I would love a pepperoni pizza.  My song of the day is Sugarland’s “All I Want to Do”.  Kenton does the best rendition of the “do-o-o-o-o” part – it’s pretty hilarious! This one’s for you dude.  Night everyone!

Port-plexed

"Aahh! Milkshake!" - perfect surgery treat

1/13/11 – I almost wrote 2 blogs yesterday.  Last night I lay in bed for a good hour trying to fall asleep.  All I kept thinking about was that I was going to get a port put in tomorrow and that port was going to have to stay in me for several months.  I have problems with getting IV’s because they have to stay in for hours.  Can you imagine how badly it bothered me to know the port was going to have to stay in months?  Months!  Kenton had Kristina call me Monday to let me know that the port wasn’t a big deal.  He was sedated when they put his port in so he was able to feel pressure but basically got a good nap.  He said that it didn’t hurt and it has been covered with gauze since the surgery.  Ok, here’s the problem – I’m a diva.  I kept thinking “Kenton was semi-awake during the surgery. What if I’m semi-awake too?”  It is important to remember that I almost passed out when my staples were removed.  What would I do if I knew that a port was being put into my body and I was semi-awake while that was happening? As I’m lying in bed I start to get a twinge in my back where the epidural was put in during the last surgery.  I’m starting to freak out.  Then I start to worry that I will freak out after the surgery because this thing is left in me.  To review, I’m freaking out because I have to get the port, because I might not be fully asleep during the surgery, and I’m freaking out because I might freak out! I was truly port-plexed.
Sometime during the night I finally fell asleep.  I woke up and got ready for the hospital.  I like to dress cute when I go to the hospital for surgeries because they don’t let you wear makeup or hair clips.  How depressing.  The only fun I get is clothing.  You may take away my makeup but you will never take away my style! – Braveheart moment again.  Tara Thomas was my driver for the day.  Yen drove me out of the subdivision to meet Tara this morning – Thanks Yen!  Tara and I then headed to the hospital.  We made it there without much slipping and sliding and were exactly on time.
Like always I had to get an IV when I got back into the pre-op room.  Why? Why?  I hate IVs.  My vein is still not the same since the surgery so I did ask if they could not use that vein.  They found one they liked and started trying to get a blood sample.  Did you catch that?  I said “trying”.  Apparently I am not a free bleeder, so it was very hard for them to get a blood sample.  There was a moment where I was squeezing my hand into a fist while another nurse was hitting my arm.  Guess what happened then?  I nearly passed out.  Yep.  I once again nearly passed out.  I don’t know if it was the irritating pain, the blood, or the fact that I hadn’t eaten in over 12 hours but I started to see those fuzzy little ants again and everyone sounded very far away.  I think I just wanted to scare Tara.  I’m relatively certain I succeeded.  I am happy to report that I did not actually pass out.  Around that time they got enough of a blood sample and were able to stop hitting my arm.  As soon as that stopped I felt 100% better.  Tara and I then watched I Dream of Jennie and Kristina came downstairs and hung out with us until I had to go to the holding room.
When I was in the holding room I felt like a rock star.  Nicole must have talked about me because I met a lot of wonderful people.  I just really love Emory Johns Creek.  Everyone there is so nice and makes you feel like they care about you as a person.  The real test of this is what name they call you when you don’t go by your first name.  Think about it.  If you go by your middle name what do colleges, doctors, and government agencies call you?  Your first name.  Generally I don’t correct people.  It’s just easier to go with it.  Everyone in the holding room called me Shea (Shea is technically not even a part of my legal name anymore).  I knew that they had a little deeper connection to me than just doctor/patient.
I went through the surgery without a problem.  I was x-rayed afterward and everything looked good.  Before the surgery my surgeon had to tell me that there was a possibility that I could start bleeding or he could puncture my lung when the port is put in – now THAT is scary.  I did tell him that he was scaring me but it is something that he had to tell me before the surgery.  I was glad when he heard that the x-ray was clear because that meant that everything went in properly and I shouldn’t have any problems.  My surgeon is pretty awesome.
Once I was released from the hospital Tara and I headed to McDonald’s and got a milkshake and cheeseburgers.  Yum!  The cheeseburger made my day.  When we got to the house we watched Selling New York.  It’s amazing how large the apartments in downtown New York can be.  Some of them have more square footage than my house.  No wonder they are so expensive.  I took some Percocet for the first time in 3 weeks.  I think it’s a little funny that my colon resection was on December 13th and my port placement was on January 13th – exactly a month apart.
Tara made me some yummy baked ziti tonight.  I would love some dark chocolate! Dove has some of the best dark chocolate bars.  That would be the only thing I would want to eat tonight.  My song of the day is Motley Crue’s “Doctor Feelgood” – “He’s the one they call Dr. Feelgood, He’s the one that makes ya feel all right, …”  I start my chemo tomorrow at 9:00. Since I won’t need to be stuck for an IV anymore it should be smooth sailing.  A huge “thanks” to Tara for dealing with me all day.  Night y’all!

Slip and slide

1/12/11 – Hey, hey!  It’s been another day at home.  I hope all of you who’ve been stranded from the snow and ice appreciate how hard it’s been for me to just sit at home for weeks now.  Not as easy as it sounds, right?
I started out the morning laughing.  Todd had just let Buster outside to do his business when I started making the coffee.  Todd looks out the window and says “look at this”.  When I look out the window Buster is walking on top of the snow, not sinking in.  He then starts to slide around like a deer on a frozen lake!  I didn’t realize until that moment that the snow had such a large ice layer that a 50lb dog couldn’t sink through.  The sliding part was pretty funny.
Todd headed out to work around 10:00.  I was prepared to have a relaxing and productive day at home all alone.  Around 10:20 I got a call from Todd saying he couldn’t make it out of the subdivision.  When he got to the big hill there were already 4 cars in front of him and one that had ran into a curb.  He pulled off the road and, along with other people who were already hanging around, started watching people try to escape the neighborhood.  Apparently only 4 cars out of 12 succeeded.  Since Todd’s truck is a rear wheel drive he knew it wouldn’t be able to handle the hill.  He came back and worked at the house again.
I am sick and tired of just sitting around watching TV so I decided to make a pillow.  I have had some fuzzy white fabric that I haven’t done anything with.  I pulled out my sewing machine and made one large pillow that looks really nice with the bedding in our bedroom – “it’s so FLUFFY!”.  I then vacuumed our sofa and love seat and rug.  I continued with my HGTV-ness and tried to redo a lampshade.  I am sorry to say that my lampshade turned out looking horrible.  At least my other projects worked out well.
I did watch The People’s Court this morning.  I find that show very interesting.  Did you know that Harvey Levin from TMZ does some of the outside interviews?  I didn’t, and you know how I love TMZ.  People wear some questionable things to court.  I honestly wonder what they think when they are getting ready in the morning.  Judge Marilyn Milian has this awesome eye roll combined with an angry huff – I have got to perfect that for myself.  It was quite scary.  I’m sure it would come in handy when someone gets on my nerves in the future. The quote of the show was when an annoying lady was talking at the same time as Judge Milian.  Imagine if you could say this in an angry voice when someone interrupts you – “Can you hear me talking when you talk over me?!”  I know it probably loses a lot of force in type, but it was pretty awesome when she said it.
Tonight we had brinner (breakfast for dinner) with the Gorka’s.  We had homemade biscuits (I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t remember how to make biscuits since I haven’t had them in so long), sausage gravy, bacon, and eggs.  It was delicious!  Oh, so yummy.
I received a call from the surgeon’s office letting me know that my outpatient surgery for the port was still on even though he wasn’t able to do an in-office consultation.  Apparently I will have a consultation at the hospital.  The hospital also called to make sure that my surgery was still on.  Yep!  Still on.  Chemo is also still scheduled for 9:00 Friday.
Since I had such a yummy dinner I would like a cookies and cream milkshake from Chick-fil-A.  I need to get my cold fix in before I am confined to room temperature drinks and foods.  My song of the day is “Hanging Around” by Counting Crows – fitting right?
As I sign out for the night I thought I would leave you with a funny picture of Buster.  When Brad and Yen were over Yen tied a ribbon around Buster’s neck.  It was funny watching him wiggle around trying to get it off.  It did make a pretty cute picture though.  Enjoy and good night.
Buster and his nemesis "The Ribbon"!
